JOSÉ ROQUE

 

It was August of 2000 when José Roque, a seasoned art director and graphic designer, first grasped the concept of designing t-shirts for his Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ.  God placed in his heart a burning desire to represent The Lord through design, fashion and blessed talent.  As a child José grew up illustrating comic book and sci-fi characters.  José even dappled with graffiti art.



Growing up in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York was very troubling for José.  He was able to survive a violent street life by staying focused in school and the arts. At times people in his neighborhoods ended up dead or tossed in jail.  Surrendering his life to Jesus Christ became the best decision José's ever made. Its changed him, he saids, "God still working on me, Daily!"  Building his house on Christ The Rock has really made a huge difference in his life.



Jose's tagline for the GearJesus Collection brand became Designed by Man, Inspired by God!  He didn't want to go the way of just placing scriptures on t-shirts. "Everyone has tried that approach."  He saids. His experience in art & advertising design has led him to try something totally different.
